Pruning is a common maintenance procedure in the ever changing Urban Environment. When done properly, Pruning can greatly increase the overall health, safety, value and vigor of the tree.
Why Prune? There are a variety of reasons to prune a tree: - to remove broken, dead or diseased branches - to reduce weight on load bearing limbs for hazard mitigation - to improve tree structure, tree vigor and aesthetics - to maintain safety in high traffic / sensitive areas - to provide overhead & sight-line clearance on roads and walkways
Trees (when pruned properly) add great value to our landscape and communities by providing: - Diversity in Parks and Neighborhoods - Habitat and Canopy for wildlife - Shade, Oxygen and Water purification - Increased value to property - A connection to our environment and spirituality
Unfortunately most of all tree problems are caused by humans. Trees in the City often suffer from over pruning or pruning done improperly to conform to their surroundings. (Topping, Tipping, Shaping, over thinning and flush cuts)
Trees are not as tough as we think. Trees deserve respect.
